WEEK 11 (FYP 1)

Date:11/5/2020

Title: Methodology

In this week I have decide to continue on methodology regarding my Fyp project after done my flowchart and block diagram in previous week. Firstly, I must know what type of sensor that are suitable to make my project successfully can be create. My project is about sensing level water from a certain distance. So, I decide to use ultrasonic sensor that works on the principle of ultrasound waves which is used to determine the distance to an object. Beside that an ultrasonic sensor generates high-frequency sound waves. When this ultrasound hits the object, it reflects as echo which is sensed by the receiver. By using the time required for the echo to reach the receiver, we can calculate the distance to an object we are targeting. Ultrasonic distance sensor consists of two ultrasonic transducers. Among them, one acts as a transmitter which converts the electrical pulse of microcontroller into ultrasonic sound pulse and the receiver receives for the transmitted pulses. If it receives them, then it produces an output pulse whose time period can be used to determine the distance from the object

After doing some research about some type of ultrasonic sensor, I decide to use HC-SR04 sensor. HC-SR04 Ultrasonic sensor is a 4 pin module, whose pin names are Vcc, Trigger, Echo and Ground respectively. This sensor is a very popular sensor used in many applications where measuring distance or sensing objects are required. The module has two eyes like projects in the front which forms the Ultrasonic transmitter and Receiver.
