WEEK 5 (FYP1)

Date: 2/3/2020 (Monday)
Title: Registering project title

In this week, Sir Sahahruddin registered my name and the title of the project under his supervision on the FYP website. I should be able to check the application status online once the supervisor approved my application. I have now officially under the supervision of Sir Sahahruddin for my FYP. As my supervisor, Sir Sahahruddin will guide me in the project; recommend approaches, techniques and methods appropriate to achieve the project’s objectives.

WEEK 4 (FYP1)

Date:28/2/20(Friday)
Title: Project titles confirmation

After much thinking and researching, I have decided to choose my own title. After meeting with him and discussing, some amendments have to do to the title. Sir Shahruddin suggested that I must do the research  about type of on sensor that I have to use and how actually it can be install. He suggested to me to install at the river or the spot that flood can be detected. He also suggest to me to add Iot Application to my Fyp project.

After meeting, Sir Sahahruddin asked me to come out with my own simple sypnosis and simple proposal for the project to be placed on the FYP website.

The new title for the project :

DEVELOPMENT OF FLOOD MONITORING AND WARNING SYSTEM USING IoT APPLICATION

The sypnosis of the project :

In Malaysia, flood is one of the frequent natural disasters that occurred in the monsoon season especially at the end of each year. It can destroys many infrastructure and causes fatalities to the community. Therefore, this country is prone to the occurrence of flood that are not predictable that cause the public be unprepared in facing potential flood . Flood monitoring and warning system are important to minimize flood damage costs because the cost of damaged caused by the floods is correlated closely with the period of warning given before the flood event occurred. Because of this, the main purpose of this project is to design and develop a flood monitoring and detection system using the Internet of Thing (IoT) and create system that provide information on the current water level in the particular area, such as river and drain. When, the water level increase beyond the critical level, the system sends the alert and warning notification to the user.

WEEK 1 (FYP1)

Date:10/2/20-14/2/20
Title: Surveying Topics

As was briefed, students may choose the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas. After doing some thinking, I decided to choose the titles for the fyp from my own ideas. The titles that are choose can be seen at the FYP website which is http://fyp.bmi.unikl.edu.my/. I read through the list of the titles and each synopsis of the project so that I can understand the requirement and criteria needed to complete the project.

Date:14/2/20(Friday)
Title: Selecting a supervisor

I decided to search for lecturers that are still available to be the supervisor for FYP. I chose to have the same lecturers advisor for my subject academic because it is safer and if anything happens, easy to me contact him and  he can remind me on certain stuff and I can remind him too.
So i went to meet the lecturer which is Sir Sahahruddin Bin Othman. Sir Sahahruddin is the one lecture of Section of the Electrical Engineering Technology Section.
I showed Sir Sahahruddin the ideas and titles  that i think from week 1 . I am interested in one of the title which is “ Flood monitoring And Warning system”. Sir Sahahruddin also suggested for me to do some research first before confirming to take the title.

WEEK 3 (FYP1)

Date:19/2/20(wednesday)
Title: First FYP Briefing

In the briefing, the FYP committees have briefed us about :
  •          Introduction
  •          Objectives
  •          Credits and duration
  •          Scope of projects
  •          Title selection
  •          Project Assessment
  •          Presentation day
  •          Submission date of project
The students were required to carefully select the title of the project. For degree students, the title must reflect the capability and knowledge of a degree student. Students may select the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas.

Date:21/2/20(Friday)
Title: Surveying Topics

I continue my research on the FYP title and I have interest in monitoring water level project. After the meeting with Sir Sahahruddin, he give me an idea to monitor the flood. He also said that this project can contributed to the society if it sucess . After that i made some basic research about the tittle and  I felt that with enough research and knowledge, I  will complete this project. Sir Sahahruddin would be a great supervisor based on his wide knowledge and experience about electrical and electronic engineering.

WEEK 2 (FYP1)

Date:19/2/2020
Title: Industrial Talk with Favoriot

All FYP students were obligated to attend this talk which is in conjunction with Favoriot IoT Day 2020. The talk was held at Gemilang Hall starting from 2.30pm until 5.30pm and conducted by Dr. Gopinath Rao Sinniah. He is currently working at REDtone IoT Snd Bhd as IoT specialist focusing on the Internet of Things Platforms and Solutions.

As mentioned, he is well known in the IoT field and has been contributed so much by being a Co-founder of Favoriot. Favoriot is a platform that can boost and help to improve the knowledge and usage of the Internet of Things either among the students or globally. in his talk, he mentioned that nowadays the industries are getting prepared and headed towards Industries Revolution 4.0 or also known as IR4.0.
